EXIF Data Embedding

EXIF embedding writes metadata inside the image file itself — not just in your CMS database. When images are downloaded, shared, or re-uploaded elsewhere, the metadata travels with the file.

What EXIF Embedding Does

CMS metadata lives in a database. If someone downloads your image and re-uploads it to their site, the alt text, title, and caption disappear. The image is orphaned from its metadata.

EXIF embedding writes that metadata into the image file's binary header. The description field, copyright notice, creator credit, and keywords become part of the file. They survive download, re-upload, and platform migration.

Picture Optimizer embeds the AI-generated alt text into the EXIF ImageDescription field, the IPTC Caption-Abstract field, and the XMP Description field. It writes the generated title to the IPTC Object Name and XMP Title. Copyright and credit fields are populated from your account settings.

EXIF Embedding Use Cases

Stock photographers embed metadata to ensure attribution persists across platforms. E-commerce brands embed product names and SKUs for internal asset management. Agencies embed client names and project codes for organized file delivery.

Any workflow where images leave your CMS and enter the wild — social media, email campaigns, partner sites, press releases — benefits from embedded metadata. The description travels with the file.
