WordPress Image Optimization

WordPress image optimization is not a single action. It is a pipeline. The image must be analyzed for content. Metadata must be generated. The file must be compressed. The format may need conversion. Thumbnails must be regenerated. URLs must be updated across the database. Redirects must be added for old URLs.

Picture Optimizer handles every step. Install the plugin. Select images. Click Process. The pipeline runs from analysis to replacement without manual intervention.

1. Uploads the original image to the processing server. 2. AI vision analyzes the image and generates alt text, title, caption, description, and filename. 3. The image compresses at your quality preset in your chosen output format (WebP, AVIF, or JPG). 4. The processed file downloads back to your WordPress server. 5. The plugin replaces the original file in wp-content/uploads. 6. All registered thumbnail sizes regenerate in the new format. 7. Every URL reference in post content, postmeta, and widgets updates. 8. An .htaccess redirect rule maps the old URL to the new one. 9. The attachment GUID updates. 10. The original file is backed up for one-click revert.

The plugin works with WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+. It is compatible with WooCommerce, Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg, Classic Editor, ACF, and any theme that uses standard WordPress media functions.

The plugin does not modify your theme files, JavaScript, or CSS. It operates entirely within the WordPress media system — uploading, processing, and replacing files through standard APIs.
