Convert Your Entire Image Library

Migrating a WordPress site from JPG to WebP is not a file-by-file task. It is a library-wide operation. Picture Optimizer handles it as one batch.

Select all JPG images in your Media Library. Choose WebP (or AVIF) as the output format. Click Process. The plugin converts each image, replaces the file, regenerates thumbnails at each registered size, updates every URL reference in post content and meta fields, and adds redirect rules for external references.

The process runs in parallel. A library of 300 images typically converts in 10–20 minutes depending on file sizes and your selected quality preset.

Format Migration Strategy

The recommended migration path:

1. Run a Sample Preview on 5–10 representative images to verify quality at your chosen preset. 2. Process a small batch of 20–50 images. Check your site. Verify thumbnails render correctly. 3. Process the remaining library in batches of 200–500. 4. After migration, verify your CDN is serving the new format with correct Content-Type headers.

Picture Optimizer stores the original file as a backup. If any conversion produces unsatisfactory results, revert individual images or the entire batch with one click.
